Audio 101 (Theatrical Sound) Class

This is a training opportunity which can lead to advancement in the career path as an
entertainment crafts person.
This class is informational; attendance does not guarantee addition of skills in Call Steward.
This class will be held at the Eccles Theater SLC Downtown. Enter through Eccles Theater Stage Door, located east of the theater on Regent Street.
The class will be taught by Dave Hallock, SLC County Audio. As a 101 class, the first half of the day will cover fundamental concepts of audio following signal flow in a sound system. The second half will go over signal flow again, but will focus on the actual equipment and best practice. We will end with a quick tour of the theater looking at the cable paths used in most shows presented at Eccles SLC Downtown, with an emphasis on Touring Broadway Yellow Card attractions.

LX 101 (Theatrical Electrics) Class

This class will cover a quick tour of the Eccles Theater: SLC Downtown and explain where things are in the building.
Instructor, Brian Garrick, Eccles Theater SLC House Electrician will go over the process of how shows operate in the building, including: the advance, load-in, show runs, and the load-out.
The different tools we use as electricians in the theatre and how to use them, as well as a price breakdown and where to buy them will be presented.
The instructor will teach a proper way to hang lights, dress/coil cables, and focus a conventional lighting unit. Brian will give a comprehensive breakdown of the several types of lights and cables you will commonly find in theatre and live events.
A brief overview of ETC Eos™ lighting console hardware will be presented.

Wardrobe 101

This class will be held at the Eccles Theater SLC Downtown. Enter through Eccles Theater Stage Door, located east of the theater on Regent Street.
All the basics for your first day on a dressing call will be covered. From load in to work calls, the set up, use, and breakdown of wardrobe equipment and dressing skills. Dressing room etiquette and communication skills. How dressing on a ballet is different from a Broadway show. Know why opera dressing room etiquette is very important.
This is a required class for Wardrobe Star advancement.

Wardrobe 201: Dressing Basics
Friday, January 30, 2026 10am -3pm 10 people class limit
This class will be held at the Eccles Theater SLC Downtown. Enter through Eccles Theater Stage Door, located east of the theater on Regent Street.
The focus of this class is on dressing skills. What you’ll be up against on your first day of dressing on a show. What is a dressing track, how to read it. What does some of the terminology and abbreviations mean? You must learn your track within the first 3 shows. How do you do that? You will preset costumes, walk through a track, and do quick changes. The importance of a costume inventory checks every show. How to interact with your performers and the protocol that guides you. What does professional dress and attitude mean.
This is a required class for Wardrobe Star advancement.
